Hi there—I want to talk about one of the biggest assets you own: the equity in your home. Here's what homeowners often don't realize about having options with it.

What you can do with home equity today

If you've owned your home for a few years, there's a good chance you've built meaningful equity. The question isn't just how much you have—it's what it can do for you. Some homeowners use it to fund home improvements, pay off higher-interest debt, or cover major life expenses. Others tap into it strategically to refinance into better terms. The right move depends on your goals, your timeline, and your financial situation. I've helped many clients explore their options without pressure, and I'd like to do the same for you. If you're curious whether your equity could work harder for you, let's talk through what makes sense.

Tip of the Week

If your credit score is below 740, even small improvements before applying for a mortgage can save you thousands over the life of the loan.

Tips for Homeowners

Weatherproofing Your Home Before Winter

1.

Clean your chimney if you have a fireplace. The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual inspection and cleaning to prevent chimney fires.

2.

Check attic insulation and ventilation before winter. Inadequate insulation leads to heat loss, higher energy bills, and ice dams on the roof that can cause significant damage.

3.

Inspect weatherstripping on all exterior doors. A simple dollar-bill test works: close the door on a bill — if you can pull it out easily, your weatherstripping needs replacing.
