Does refinancing make sense right now?

I get a lot of questions about refinancing when market conditions shift. Let me share what actually matters when you're deciding whether to move forward.

Refinancing Readiness

When refinancing actually makes sense

Refinancing isn't always the right move, even when rates shift. The real question isn't whether rates dropped—it's whether a new loan saves you money over time. That means looking at your closing costs, how long you plan to stay in your home, and what your new payment and interest rate would actually be. Sometimes the math works. Sometimes it doesn't. I've seen borrowers come out way ahead, and I've also talked people out of refinancing because the numbers just didn't line up for their situation. The best time to explore it is before you decide, not after. That's when you have options and real information to work with.

Let's run the numbers together and see if refinancing is worth your time.

Tip of the Week

If your credit score is below 740, even small improvements before applying for a mortgage can save you thousands over the life of the loan.

Tips for Homeowners

Weatherproofing Your Home Before Winter

1.

Clean your chimney if you have a fireplace. The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual inspection and cleaning to prevent chimney fires.

2.

Check attic insulation and ventilation before winter. Inadequate insulation leads to heat loss, higher energy bills, and ice dams on the roof that can cause significant damage.

3.

Inspect weatherstripping on all exterior doors. A simple dollar-bill test works: close the door on a bill — if you can pull it out easily, your weatherstripping needs replacing.
