What's really behind your mortgage rate

Mortgage Basics

Why your mortgage rate matters more than you think

Your interest rate isn't just a number on a piece of paper—it shapes your monthly payment, the total cost of your home, and how fast you build equity. Even a small difference in rate can mean thousands of dollars over the life of your loan. That's why it's worth understanding how rates work and where yours stands compared to what's available today. If you haven't reviewed your situation in a while, or if your financial picture has changed, it might be time for a fresh conversation. I'm here to walk you through your options and answer any questions you have.

Let's talk about what your rate means for your financial picture.

Tip of the Week

If your credit score is below 740, even small improvements before applying for a mortgage can save you thousands over the life of the loan.

Tips for Homeowners

Weatherproofing Your Home Before Winter

1.

Clean your chimney if you have a fireplace. The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual inspection and cleaning to prevent chimney fires.

2.

Check attic insulation and ventilation before winter. Inadequate insulation leads to heat loss, higher energy bills, and ice dams on the roof that can cause significant damage.

3.

Inspect weatherstripping on all exterior doors. A simple dollar-bill test works: close the door on a bill — if you can pull it out easily, your weatherstripping needs replacing.
