When does it make sense to refinance?
A lot of homeowners ask me whether they should refinance, and the honest answer is: it depends on your situation. Refinancing isn't always the right move, even if rates drop. You'll want to think about how long you plan to stay in your home, what your current loan terms are, and whether the savings justify the closing costs. Sometimes the math works out great. Other times, you're better off staying put. I'm happy to walk through the numbers with you and help you figure out what actually makes sense for your goals. Weatherproofing Your Home Before Winter

Clean your chimney if you have a fireplace. The National Fire Protection Association recommends annual inspection and cleaning to prevent chimney fires.

Check attic insulation and ventilation before winter. Inadequate insulation leads to heat loss, higher energy bills, and ice dams on the roof that can cause significant damage.

Inspect weatherstripping on all exterior doors. A simple dollar-bill test works: close the door on a bill — if you can pull it out easily, your weatherstripping needs replacing.
